Wow. There's literally no excuse for that to not be strapped down correctly.
I'm actually a little surprised it didn't hop that block when it slid to the right. That would have been interesting to watch, for sure.
But all that and it's just 180hp? Come on. My 5 turbo civic's idle has more than that bro.

All that turbo and stuff for just 180hp? Stick a 3800 Series II L36 in there and get 205hp, or a 3800 Series II L67 in there and get 240hp, add in $100 in mods and get 300hp.
Why on earth would anyone do this.

I wouldn't take that as an accurate reading

I doubt that is an accurate reading

I don't know, I can believe that number. I'm no expert whatsoever on VW motors, but being air cooled, I can't imagine it can handle extreme boost well. So, pair that with the extreme turbo lag and expresso sized turbos, and I think 180 is a close enough number, and way more than any 2 or 3 wheeled machine with no seatbelts needs.

could be right, they are tiny.
Bug motors can definitely be built to handle boost.
Here's the first video I found, though if you get the chance google, vw cabrio turbo wheelie lol

There's also AZN's Dung Beetle from Street Outlaws. In terms of actual HP numbers though, for a 1600cc motor to break the 200HP mark is pretty high. With really extensive mods, I could see it approaching the upper 200's, but that's all I would ever probably trust it around. Much more and its setting up for a problem.
Years ago a company took an SRT4 engine and boosted the daylights out of it to see how fast it could be. Put the motor in a top fuel body, boosted it to 44PSI, made 3 passes, and the motor blew up on the 4th pass. I believe it was making in the ballpark of 800HP out of a 2.4L turbo motor. Going back to these, keeping things reasonable just for reliability, I could see the original trike being 180HP, definitely.
They sure are different.

If its good enough for a GN, its good enough for my Firebird.
